Since the late eighties, I have worked on the international music scene as a full time professional performer, composer, arranger and instructor. Unique opportunities have taken me to 47 different countries and have brought me back to Michigan.
At the start of my career , I secured a gig as the musical director on a cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Lines. From there, I stayed on in San Juan, Puerto Rico to share the stage with Latin artists such as Eddie Santiago, Luis Enrique, Oscar d’ Leon and Jose Alberto.
After a few years, my travels took me to London, England. Here, I spent eight years performing and recording with many artists and bands. Some of them include Celia Cruz, Blur, Joe Henderson, as well as working with my own group.
Since my return to the states in 2000, I have enjoyed teaching posts, in addition to performing. I has worked as an artist in residence for the Michigan Arts Council, an instructor at Michigan State University and Lansing Community College, as well as maintained a private studio.
These days, I can be heard around the Midwest, performing with groups such as Walter White’s Small, Medium at Large, The Simone Vitale Band, The Michigan Jazz Trail Big Band and the Lansing Symphony Jazz Band. In 2013, it was my honor and privelege to travel to Washington D.C. to represent Michigan at the Presidential Inaugural Ball at the Smithsonian American History Museum.
